New SC66 Digital Clamp Meter

FULLERTON, Calif. -- Fieldpiece Instruments, manufacturer of professional-grade instruments for field service, introduces Model SC66 Digital Clamp Meter which measures volts, amps, ohms, capacitance (MFDs), micro-amps, and offers many additional features for the HVAC/R technician that have never before been incorporated in a clamp meter.

The most important benefit of the new SC66 is that it contains a non-contact voltage (NCV) function to warn the user when the NCV tab is close to live AC voltages. When it senses AC voltages down as low as 24VAC, it alerts the user by lighting up a big, bright red LED, AND sounding a loud beeper. Even if the user doesn't touch the voltage, the NCV function senses the ACV through the air.

In addition to the non-contact voltage indicator, the high-voltage (contact) indicator lights up a RED LED and beeps whenever the technician touches dangerous voltage. For convenience, a GREEN LED lights up when continuity is detected. All three LED functions are supported by a loud beep from the internal beeper.

Another feature of the SC66 is that it is the first hand-held clamp meter to solve the test lead storage problem. The test leads wrap around the body of the clamp meter and the probes snap into the back. The test lead wires are insulated with silicone rubber, which withstands temperature extremes much better than vinyl. They are also more flexible than vinyl.
Measurements include volts, amps (200AAC max, best resolution to 0.01 amps), microamps (for flame rectifier diode circuits), temperature, ohms, and MFDs (for motor start and motor run capacitors).

The k-type thermocouples plug directly into the meter for excellent temperature compensation. The built-in adapter plug is a convenience feature because many technicians lose the adapters.

The SC66, designed in the USA, is a totally new design that meets the changing needs of today's field professionals with convenience features like an innovative clamp head that simplifies the often-difficult process of separating wires. Just slide the tab between two wires, twist, and then open the jaws to let the wire in.

"If you are going to carry one meter to the job site, this is the meter. The SC66 solves more real world problems," said Rey Harju, of Fieldpiece. "This meter keeps the test leads out of the way when they're not being used. It warns the technician about potentially dangerous voltage being present. And it performs the functions most needed by HVAC/R technicians."

The low $129 price includes the clamp meter, probes, and a nylon case with belt-buckle for easy portability.
